Derek’s Story

Derek was tired of living in his bare, undecorated apartment, so he came to InteriorCrowd with the request that our designers upgrade the living room of his cookie cutter bachelor pad into a cooler, homier place to hang out. Our designers jumped on the idea – especially those that would get to try out our new model and work with Derek in person in San Francisco – and in no time, Derek had picked Helene to redesign his living room.

Helene and Derek had their first meeting together to talk about the living room, which they agreed was in need of some artwork and a new rug, and perhaps pillows and another place to sit around the coffee table.

After their first meeting, Helene couldn’t stop thinking about how Derek’s apartment didn’t quite feel finished – while the living room was nearly done, the rest of the house still needed some love to make it feel like a home. She mentioned a few of her ideas for the kitchen and his bedroom next time they spoke, and Derek was incredibly enthusiastic about turning his place into somewhere he could get excited to come home to.

The two spent some more time working together on the apartment. Derek and his roommate have different taste in decor, but Helene was able to find items for the other common areas that could blend the more modern and eclectic styles they each prefer (like the bar cart and putting green on the balcony).
